MISDEMEANORS
- Stephanie V. Nordeng, 20, Brodhead, made an initial appearance in court Monday, March 26, on a misdemeanor charge of tattooing without a license and a forfeiture charge of tattooing a child. The criminal complaint, filed March 5, indicates Nordeng tattooed a "Juggalo running hatchetman" (a symbol associated with fans of the rap group Insane Clown Posse) on the right deltoid of her 15-year-old nephew's chest at a residence in the 1000 block of 1st Center Avenue in Brodhead in January. According to Brodhead Police reports included with the complaint, Nordeng taught herself tattooing out of a book and told police she thought tattooing an underage person was legal as long as she had a parent's permission. The tattoo was brought to the attention of authorities after a "concerned, anonymous mother" complained to the Green County Health Department. Nordeng paid a $200 bond and is forbidden from doing any tattooing as a condition of her release. She has a pre-trial conference scheduled for May 1.
