The court Friday entered a plea of not guilty and scheduled a July 21 district attorney conference for Michael E. Hoffman, 23, Monroe, who stood mute to charges related to a dispute at a Monroe business.
Court records allege he refused to leave Flanagan's Shenanigans, struggled with officers and swung his elbow to hit an officer March 14. He was convicted of substantial battery in Dane County in 2008.
He is charged with attempted battery, a class H felony, resisting an officer, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, all as a repeat offender. He faces more than 11 years in prison and up to $16,000 in fines, if convicted.
He remains free on a $5,000 signature bond.
In a second case, the court entered a plea of not guilty and scheduled a July 21 district attorney conference after Hoffman stood mute to drunken driving and bail jumping charges.
Court records allege he was driving while intoxicated and with a prohibited alcohol concentration April 3 on Mount Hope Road in Spring Grove township. Court records also allege he struggled with officers at the Monroe Clinic April 3. He was on bond at the time of the incidents.
He is charged with drunken driving, fifth- or sixth-offense, driving with a prohibited alcohol concentration and two counts of felony bail jumping, all class H felonies, bail jumping, a class A misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor, all as a repeat offender. He faces up to 37 years in prison and up to $51,000 in fines, if convicted.
He remains free on a $9,500 signature bond and a $500 cash bond.
MISDEMEANORS
The court June 3 sentenced Rocky J. Simler, 22, Monroe, to one year probation and entered into a one-year deferred prosecution agreement after he pleaded no contest to bail jumping and possession of marijuana.
He faced up to 15 months in jail and up to $11,000 in fines as part of the plea agreement for the class A misdemeanor and the unclassified misdemeanor. The marijuana possession charge will be dismissed if he complies with the terms of the agreement.
The court dismissed one count of manufacture/delivery of marijuana, a class I felony, bail jumping, a class A misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, an unclassified misdemeanor. He originally faced more than five years in prison and more than $31,000 in fines.
Court records indicate he had marijuana in his possession Nov. 18 in Monroe. He was on bond for battery and disorderly conduct at the time of the incident.
The court Wednesday scheduled a Sept. 29 district attorney conference for Tyler Brookman, 17, Brodhead, who pleaded not guilty to trespassing and criminal damage to property.
Court records allege he entered the old middle school and broke windows, lights and discharged a fire extinguisher Aug. 25, 2008 in Brodhead.
He is charged with trespass and criminal damage to property, both class A misdemeanors. He faces up to 18 months in jail and up to $20,000 in fines, if convicted.
He remains free on $2,000 signature bond.
