Felonies


• Brodie G. Flannery, 20, South Wayne, pleaded guilty May 23 to misdemeanor counts of theft and was sentenced to 18 months of probation. He also pleaded guilty to a Class H felony charge of forgery and was granted an 18-month deferred prosecution. Similar counts were dismissed as part of his plea agreement. The charges stem from checks forged to several area businesses, including Kwik Trip and Kundert Oil. He is ordered to pay $352 to the court and about $870 in restitution to Walmart and AutoZone in Monroe. Court records indicate he has already paid $200 in restitution.

• Alan Brian Lee, 47, Monroe, pleaded no contest May 31 to Class A misdemeanor charges of trespassing, battery and criminal damage to property, stemming from several incidents in the fall of 2012. A felony charge of stalking was dismissed, as were misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct, fourth-degree sexual assault and criminal damage to property. He was sentenced to 18 month of probation, with the conditions that he seek any recommended counseling and pay about $1,000 in restitution and about $660 to the court. Records indicate on Sept. 28 outside Stop-N-Go, 1607 9th St., Monroe, he punched out the driver's side window of his ex-girlfriend's 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser and forcefully grabbed her. The records further indicate that in September he caused thousands of dollars in damage to a coworker's plow by smashing it while it was parked on County KK on Monroe Township, and that he trespassed and was disorderly at a residence in the 1400 block of 11th Street in Monroe on Oct. 12.



Misdemeanors

• Stephanie Lynn Baird, 32, Janesville, was granted a deferred prosecution May 23 on a Class A charge of writing a worthless check in the amount of $21.58 to Cenex Southern Wisconsin Co-op, 2914 13th St., Monroe. The six-month stay of proceedings was granted "as an incentive to the defendant to seek and obtain counseling."

• Eric Christopher Schmid, 19, Monticello, pleaded no contest May 24 to a Class B misdemeanor charge of sending threatening and obscene texts on Jan. 17 to a 15-year-old girl at Monticello High School. A related charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed. He was granted a one-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that he seek anger management counseling, attend quarterly monitoring conferences and pay the court $243.

• Kathy Ann Colin, 38, Mineral Point, pleaded guilty May 28 to misdemeanor charges of possessing a controlled substance and an illegally obtained prescription. She was sentenced to one year of probation, with the conditions that she pay the court about $490 and seek alcohol/drug counseling. Court records indicate she stole 30 tablets of hydrocodone from an apartment in the 300 block of 4th Street in Monroe in June 2012 and possessed more of the same pill without a prescription.

• Jose Luis Velazquez, 31, Monroe, pleaded no contest May 29 to an unclassified misdemeanor charge of cocaine possession, stemming from an arrest Nov. 24, and was granted a one-year deferred prosecution with the conditions that he undergo an assessment for alcohol/drug abuse and attend quarterly monitoring conferences. Court records indicate Monroe police found 0.7 grams of cocaine in a tied-off baggie corner in his sweatshirt pocket after they were called to an apartment in the 2200 block of 1st Street.

Misdemeanors


• Myles T.J. Gudgalis, 29, Beetown, was charged May 24 with an unclassified misdemeanor count of violating a domestic abuse injunction on April 30. His initial appearance in court is June 3.
