Cecil Hauri, age 88, of Richland Center, died at Oakwood Village Prairie Ridge, Madison, on Thursday, August 14, 2014.

He was born May 18, 1926, at home in the Town of Monticello, to the late Robert and Elsie (Baumann) Hauri Sr. He attended Hardscrabble school in the Town of Sylvester, Green County. Cecil served in the U.S. Army during WW II and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. On February 25, 1948, he was united in marriage to Barbara F. Hoffman in Janesville, WI. They started farming in Brodhead, and moved to Gillingham in 1968. He moved to Madison in 2012.

Cecil is survived by children, Barbara Marie (David) Elmer of Brodhead, Jayne Eloise (David) Brewer of Richland Center, Vicki Leigh Schoonover of Middleton, Lorie Jayne Roach of Tucson, AZ, Cecil (Beth) Hauri, Jr. of Maple Grove, MN, and Susan Jean Hauri of Richland Center; grandchildren, Brian David (Laura) Elmer, DeAnn Marie Elmer, Jason David Brewer, Nicholas David (Nancy) Brewer, Travis David Brewer, Tiffany Rae (Brent) Parker, Kiefer Joseph Schoonover, Kristie Nicole (Colin) Voveris, Zachary James Hauri, Sarah Ann Hauri, and Jonathan Paul Hauri; great-grandchildren, Zoey Rose Jerney Franzen, Maxwell Brian Jerney Elmer, Lakota Nicholas Brewer, Lakyn Mae Brewer, Michaela Leighann Brewer, Chloe Autumn Brewer, Elsie Doll Brewer, Nevaeh Rae Parker, and Emilie Marie Botkin; siblings, Robert (Arlene) Hauri Jr. of Monroe, Harry Hauri of Janesville, Helen Sagen of Janesville, and Alfred (Janet) Hauri of Albany. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Barbara; an infant daughter, Cherie Lee; granddaughter, Kami Marie Roach; infant great-granddaughter, Lily Arlene Brewer; brother, Fritz Hauri, and sister, Hulda Klusmeyer.

To say Cecil loved farming would be an understatement. He was Outstanding Young Farmer of 1958 in the Janesville area. Farming was his life and he felt so fortunate to be able to do what he loved all the time.

Viewing will be at Newcomer-Silverthorn Chapel On The Hill, Orfordville, from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, at Luther Valley Cemetery in Beloit.
