MONROE, WI - Catherine Ellen (Bales) Butler, 90, of Monroe, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home, Monroe.
She was born June 15, 1921, in Las Vegas, New Mexico. She was united in marriage to Marion Butler December 29, 1940, and together they farmed on the edge of Farmington, IL. She was Marion's partner in all their years and Marion preceded her in death in 1981. After his death, Catherine became an area businesswoman by carrying on Marion's wish for her to own and operate the Wagon Wheel mobile home park. Catherine was strong and independent yet remained devoted to her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She was an active member of United Methodist Church of Farmington where she loved working with the Sunday school program. Catherine loved studying her Bible, weekly visits to the beauty parlor, Coke-Cola, her winter trips to Florida, and crocheting. Catherine is survived by her children, Allen (Sue) Butler of Woodstock, IL, Donna (Phil) Weber-Harms of Oregon, WI, her grandchildren, Jay (Karen) Weber of Cedarburg, IL, Angela (Peter) Dunn of Oregon, WI, Corey and Graham Butler of Woodstock, IL; and 4 very special great grandchildren, Morgan and Madeline Weber and Trace and Katherine Dunn. She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother, Floyd, her sister, June, and her son, Lawrence.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 16th at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist Church in Farmington followed by a service at the church at 3 p.m. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Farmington.
A gathering of friends and relatives is planned in Catherine's memory on Sunday, February 19th from 1 to 4 p.m. at the home of Donna and Phil Harms, 895 South Perry Parkway, Oregon, WI.
