Burton E. Bacon Jr., age 87 of Monroe, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. He was born September 26, 1920 in Monroe, the son of Burton E. Sr. and Emma (Wolter) Bacon, attended one room schoolhouse in Twin Grove for eight years, and graduated from Monroe High School in 1939. Burt played high school football and helped on the family farm south of Twin Grove until 1948.

Burton and Marian "Mary" Garvue from Milwaukee were married in 1946. They moved to Monroe in 1948 where Burt was owner and operator of Kaiser-Frazier Dealership in Monroe and later a car salesman for Dearth Motors for thirty years retiring in 1985. Burt loved to bowl, play golf and fish. He was a member of Monroe United Methodist Church, Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #754, past president of Monroe Kiwanis Club, and past president of Monroe Country Club.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Bacon of Monroe; sons, Thomas (Nancy) Bacon of Monroe and Bill (Fay) Bacon of New Glarus; grandsons, Bradley and Andrew (Allison); granddaughters, Stephani and Rebecca; great-grandsons, Drew and Canyon; great-granddaughter, Brooke; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Walter, Elbert, Lester "Irish, " Frank and Bob; and a sister, Eva Rufi.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 28, 2008 at MONROE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH with Rev. David Busker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday at the church.
