Bryce E. Rood age 90 of Argyle, WI, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011, at Lafayette Manor in Darlington, WI. He was born September 22, 1920 in Park Rapids in Hubbard County, MN, the son of Henry and Maybelle (Jensen) Rood. Bryce lived in Minnesota until moving to Green County in 1939, where he farmed and drove truck, hauling shale, gravel, and black dirt. During the winter months, he worked for York Township plowing snow. He was united in marriage to Lela (Kammerud) Nybroten on February 18, 1967 at Grace Lutheran Church in Monroe, WI. In 1986, they moved to Argyle and retired.
Bryce is survived by his wife: Lela of Lafayette Manor; one step-son: Rodney Nybroten of Madison, WI; one step-daughter: Denita (Ron) Lovaas of New Glarus, WI; four step-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; one sister: Mavis Lunde of Dodgeville, WI; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Burnell "Buck" Rood; one half-brother: Eddie Rood; and one half-sister: Murrie Carr.
Bryce was a member of Adams Lutheran Church. He loved to play cards, go to the dog track and boat in Dubuque, IA. Bryce was an avid reader of historical novels, current events, and a Packer Backer. He was a true animal lover and especially enjoyed working with horses. He enjoyed traveling and dancing.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at 7:00 P.M. at Erickson Funeral Home, 60 Breeze Terrace (GPS Users: 801 East Milwaukee Street) in Argyle. A private family graveside will be held at a later date. A visitation will be held Wednesday, June 8, 2011, from 6:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
