MONROE - A rash of burglaries and attempted burglaries was reported on the southwest side last Friday, Sept. 27, according to Monroe police.
The first report came at 6:57 a.m. in the 400 block of 21st Street. A vehicle had been stolen out of a locked garage, along with beer and frozen pizzas.
About a half hour later, a neighbor reported an attempted break-in through a window on a garage across the street.
At 11:53 p.m., a resident a few blocks away, in the 500 block of 22nd Street, reported that a GPS unit had been taken from a vehicle parked in a garage.
In the same block, another resident reported at 3:15 p.m. that a screen on another garage door had been cut but no one gained entry.
Officers are still investigating, Chief of Police Fred Kelley said Wednesday, Oct. 2.
