Bernice Barry

Bernice Barry, age 80 of Argyle, WI, passed away Monday, February 1, 2010, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Monroe, WI. She was born October 17, 1929, in York Township in Green County, WI, the daughter of Robert and Anna (Jaussi) Bahler. Bernice graduated from Argyle High School in 1947 and later from Green County Normal School where she received a teaching certificate. She was united in marriage to Bernard Barry on November 30, 1968 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle. Bernice lived in the Argyle area where she taught at Loyalty and Fairfield Country Schools for a few years. She then farmed with her husband in Adams Township until retiring into Argyle in 1978. While on the farm Bernice also worked at Advance Transformer and Oaktron Industries, both in Monroe, for a number of years. Following her retirement she worked at the Westside Inn, The Norseman, and Irma's Kitchen all in Argyle.

Bernice is survived by her daughter: Julie (Jerry) Meyer of Mount Horeb, WI; five grandchildren: Cody Raisbeck, Lane, Logan, Cooper, and Madylin Meyer; two brothers-in-law: John Ammon of Rochelle, IL, and Paul Leonard of Rockford, IL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Bernard on January 23, 1979; four brothers: Robert, William, Alfred, and Roy Bahler; five sisters: Gertrude Bahler, Lillian Leonard, Hedy Holcomb, Ruth Bahler, and Hilda Ammon.

Bernice was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Argyle and its Council of Catholic Women. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed baking and cooking for them. Bernice was a very caring person; she will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who know her.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 5, 2010, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 213 North Lafayette Street in Argyle with Rev. David Wanish officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in rural Argyle. A visitation will be held Thursday, February 4, 2010, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 5 p.m. at Erickson Funeral Home in Argyle. For those who prefer, a memorial fund has been established in Bernice's name.
