TOWN OF BROOKLYN - A Belleville man was arrested early Tuesday, Jan. 8, on charges of driving a stolen car under the influence of a prescription medication.
Deputies came across a rollover accident at 4:20 a.m. in the W1500 block of Wisconsin 92 in the Town of Brooklyn, according to the Green County Sheriff's Department.
The driver, Keith T. Tiedt, 27, lost control of his vehicle, which went into the ditch, hit a mailbox and then rolled over after striking a snowbank.
He was injured but declined medical treatment, deputies reported. The vehicle was severely damaged and towed.
Tiedt was jailed on tentative charges of operating a vehicle without the owner's consent, driving under the influence of a restricted controlled substance and failing to maintain control.
"It is suspected by our deputies that Tiedt was operating under the influence of a prescription medication that he reported was prescribed for a medical condition," Sheriff Jeff Skatrud said.
In court Wednesday, Tiedt's signature bond was set at $2,000 with the conditions that he not possess or consume intoxicants or any controlled substances unless prescribed by a physician presently treating him.
He was also ordered not to have abusive or violent contact with a woman or drive her vehicle.
His preliminary hearing is Jan. 29.
