Arlene H. DeVoe, age 85, of Monroe, died on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at the Aster Retirement Center. She was born on March 17, 1927 in Jordan Township, Green County, the daughter of Emil and Emma (Dummermuth) Grossen. Arlene and Elwin "Al" DeVoe were married on April 11, 1944 in Browntown. She worked in the bakery at the Swiss Colony for over 35 years. She is a member of the Peace Church in Browntown, Women of the Moose Chapter #599, and the Yesteryear Auto Club. Arlene enjoyed playing cards, dominoes, she liked to dance and she was a great cook making her special Swiss dishes. But most of all Arlene loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Carol A. DeVoe Degenhardt of Monroe, Linda L. DeVoe of Oconomowoc; grandchildren, Dawn (Rich Krank) Degenhardt of Leaf River, IL, Kathy (Mike) Dayberry of Kansas City, MO, Dolan (Emily) Degenhardt of Chippewa Falls; great grandchildren, Sarah and Shane Dayberry, Noah, Kael and Sera Degenhardt; Brother, Edward (Opal) Grossen of Monroe; sister-in-law, Pat (Les) Drentlaw of Monroe; also many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Elwin "Al" DeVoe; grandson, Damon Degenhardt; great grandson, Elijah Degenhardt; sisters, Mary Voegeli, Emma Ritschard, Wilma Reinmann, Doris Zimmerman; brothers, Emil Grossen, Fred Grossen, Robert Grossen, George Grossen, William Grossen, John Grossen, Walter Grossen and Howard Grossen.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Shriner-Hager-Gohlke Funeral Home, with Pastor Mary Gafner officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Monroe. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
