Alfred E. "Butch" Aeberhard

Alfred E. "Butch" Aeberhard age 77 of New Glarus, formerly of Monticello, died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at the New Glarus Home surrounded by his family. Al was born December 15, 1934 in Monticello, the son of Alfred C. and Leora B. (Cotherman) Aeberhard. He married Mary Scheidegger on July 5, 1958 at St. Johns Church in Monroe. He lived in Monticello all of his life and owned and operated Aeberhard Mink Ranch until 1997. He was a member of Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, and had been involved with the Monticello Lions Club, Monticello Fire Department, Green County Rifle Club, and the Marshall Bluff Bowhunters. In his younger years, Al was a member of Turn and Schwing and the Mt. Vernon Tug-O-War Team. He loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Aeberhard of Monticello; four children, Thomas (Renee Henning) Aeberhard of Monticello, John Aeberhard (Brenda Willett) of Oak Grove, MO, Michael (Annette) Aeberhard, and Lisa Aeberhard (Bob Halvorsen), both of Monticello; seven grandchildren, Jake (Nicole) Aeberhard, Josh Aeberhard (Brooke Berry), Daniel Lehr (Alyssa Bloyer), Valerie (Ben) Koelbl, Carson Aeberhard, Kuenzi Aeberhard, and Whitney Block (Kris Hasler); two step-grandchildren, Raven and Jade Foulker; and two great-grandchildren, Treyton Hasler and Jailyn Aeberhard. He was preceded in death by his mother in 1985 and father in 1990.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at 11 a.m., at the Zwingli United Church of Christ, Monticello, with Rev. Lawrence Balleine officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery, Monticello. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Voegeli-Newcomer Funeral Home, 360 S. Garfield St., Monticello.
