Alec David Pulley, 68, of Freeport died Friday in F.H.N. Memorial Hospital following a brief illness.

He was born November 13, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois the son of Ned and Annetta (Schmidt) Pulley.

Mr. Pulley received his B.A. from Southern Illinois University in Biology and his M.A. in Zoology also from S.I.U. Mr. Pulley was employed by the State of Illinois Department of Natural Resources from 1971-2004 as a Fisheries Biologist.

His memberships included the American Fisheries Society, Flatlander's Muskie Club, Shabbona Lake Sportsman's Club, Lake Carroll Fishing Club, Stephenson County Soil and Water Conservation, Apple Canyon Lake Fishing Club and Candlewick Lake Fishing Club. He was a member of Freeport Eagle's Club 679. Al played many years in the Freeport Park District Slow Pitch Softball League.

Mr. Pulley is survived by his son: Dr. Judd (Kathy) Pulley of Monroe, Wisconsin; two daughters: Anne Pulley of Freeport and Sara (Eric) Engels of Tonica, Illinois; his brother: Peter (Kathy) Psik of Elgin and his sister: Alexis (Ron) Fetting of Cedar Lake, In; his grandchildren: Alec T. (Cynthia) Pulley, Clarissa Pulley and Ava Engels.

He was preceded in death by his parents, aunt, cousin and his great-granddaughter, Claire.

Memorial services for Mr. Pulley will be 5 p.m. Thursday, March 11, in Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home, 504 N. Walnut Ave. Freeport, Illinois. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until time of services at Burke-Tubbs. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in his name .
