NEW GLARUS — On July

On July 19:

•  Abigail Abreu Caraballo, 47, Fitchburg, was cited for speeding at 4:28 p.m. on Industrial Drive.

•  A transformer on fire was reported at 9:35 p.m. in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue. 

On July 20:

•  Trespassing was reported at 12:22 p.m. in the 1100 block of 2nd Street. Juveniles were playing on the roof of a building.

•  A parking complaint was reported at 12:34 p.m. in the 600 block of Wis. 69. The vehicle was later removed.

•  Police responded to a medical call at 1:15 p.m. in the 600 block of 2nd Street.

•  Police assisted a driver with directions that was parked in  a no-parking zone  at 1:43 p.m. along 6th Avenue near Wis. 69. They were given directions. 

•  Police assisted the Green County Sheriff with a medical call at 8:31 p.m. in the N8700 block of County O.

•  Police checked on the welfare of a juvenile at 9:13 p.m. on 6th Street. The juvenile was OK and reports were sent to Green County Human Services. 

On July 21:

•  An unsecured manhole cover was reported at 10:33 a.m. in the 300 block of 2nd Street. The cover was secured by police.

•  Police assisted Green County Sheriff with clearing roadway debris at 12:31 p.m. in the N7900 block of Wis. 69.

•  A dog at large was reported at 1:57 p.m. in the 1600 block of 2nd Street. Police were unable to locate the German Shepherd-type dog.

•  Police assisted two individuals in need of assistance to jump-start a vehicle at 2:19 p.m. in the 400 block of 2nd Street.

•  Dogs in Village Park were reported at 5:19 p.m. The owners were contacted and advised of the ordinance.

•  A domestic problem was reported at 6:44 p.m. in the 400 block of 4th Avenue. No reports or arrests were made. The case has been referred to the Green County District Attorney’s Office per state statute.

•  Arthur K. Thorton, 73, Monticello, was cited for a seatbelt violation at 7:48 p.m. on Wis. 69 at County W.

On July 22:

•  Police responded to a medical call at 8:40 a.m. to the 300 block of 5th Street.

•  Police observed a dog in the Village Park at 12:53 p.m. Police spoke with the owner and advised them of the ordinance.

•  Police responded to a 911 hang up at 4:35 p.m. It was a misdial. 

•  Police removed a tree branch from the roadway at 7:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of Elmer Road.

•  Police responded to a welfare check at 9:30 p.m. in the 200 block of 1st Avenue.

On July 23:

•  A parking complaint was reported at 1:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of Wis. 69.

•  Daniel A. Scofield, 21, Brodhead, was cited for operating a motor vehicle without insurance at 3:18 p.m. on Wis. 69 at 6th Avenue.

•  Police received found property from a citizen at 8:11 p.m. in the 100 block of 2nd Avenue that was located in the 600 block of Wis. 69. Police identified the owner and returned the property.

•   Police were requested by Green County Sheriff to investigate a possible gas leake at 8:43 p.m. on Argue Road at Airport Road. Police and Belleville Fire di not detect any sign of natural gas.

On July 24:

•  Theft of a 20-inch girl’s bicycle was reported at 3:58 p.m. from the 400 block of Railroad street. The bicycle is purple and white with butterflies and white tires.

•  Police assisted Green County Sheriff on a medical call at 5:11 p.m. on Edelweiss Road.

•  Police responded to a medical call at 5:35 p.m. in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue.

•  A fireworks complaint was received at 8:58 p.m. in the 500 block of 14th Avenue. Police checked the area and were not able to locate anyone using fireworks.

•  A commercial alarm was received by police at 11:27 p.m. in the 1000 block of Wisconsin 69. The alarm was accidentally activated by an employee.

On July 25:

•  Police received a complaint of suspicious activity at 7:38 a.m. at Village Hall. The complaint was that someone had burned toilet paper in the bathrooms the night before.

•  Police responded to a medical call at 5:06 p.m. on Oberdof Court.

•  Joseph N. Carlson, 41, New Glarus, was cited for speeding at 5:59 p.m. in the 500 block of 6th Avenue.

•  James E. Peters, 36, Blanchardville, and Timothy A. Peters, Mount Horeb, were cited for not wearing seat belts after a traffic stop at 8:56 p.m. in the 1400 block of Wis. 69.

•  Police issued a parking citation for a trailer parked in violation of the 24-hour rules at 10:30 p.m. in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue.

•  Xilonen Rodriguez, 33, Monroe, was cited for operating without a valid drivers license at 10:57 p.m. on Wis. 69 at 14th Avenue.

On July 26:

•  Police assisted Green County Sheriff on a traffic stop at 12:00 a.m. on County H at Wis. 69.

•  A woman’s lost pink and orange wallet was reported to Police at 10:12 a.m. If located, please call the New Glarus Police at 608-527-2145.

•  Window damage was reported at 12:52 p.m. in the 100 block of 5th Avenue. Investigation revealed that a subject threw a small part of a brick through the window.

•  A complaint of a juvenile riding a scooter in the middle of the road was reported at 3:33 p.m. in the 700 block of 1st Street. Contact was made with the child and he was explained the rules of the road.

•  A vehicle window was reported damaged at 3:13 p.m. in the 400 block of 2nd Street. Police investigation revealed a subject that mowed the lawn had propelled a rock into the window. The parties are working on a resolution.

•  Police assisted a motorist with a disabled vehicle in the lane of traffic at 9:28 p.m. on Highway 69 at Cow Path Lane.

On July 27:

•  Police issued a parking citation for a 24-hour parking violation at 1:22 a.m. in the 1000 block of 3rd Street.

•  Police responded to an active fire alarm at 11:40 a.m. in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue. It was a false alarm.

•  Police responded to a medical call at 2:03 p.m. in the 400 block of 2nd Street.

•  Police responded to a medical call at 2:34 p.m. in the 400 block of 2nd Street.

•  Police responded to a medical call at 5:09 p.m. in the 600 block of 2nd Avenue.

•  Patrick G. Zweifel, 55, South Wayne, was cited for expired registration and no proof of insurance at 7:27 p.m. in the 1400 block of Wis. 69.

On July 28:

•  A cat was reported found at 10:25 a.m. in the 800 block of 1st Avenue. The cat was transported to a veterinary clinic in Madison for medical treatment. A photo of the cat will be placed on the department Facebook page. The cat is small, black and white, neutered and between 3-5 years old.

•  A citizen complained of motorcycles parking in violation of the 15-minute limit at 12:51 p.m. on 6th Avenue in front of the Post Office. The motorcycles left prior to any law enforcement action being able to take place.

•  Suspicious activity was reported at 2:50 p.m. in the 400 block of 5th Avenue.

•  Police were given property at 4:40 p.m. that was found in the 1400 block of Wis. 69. 

•  Police apprehended three juveniles attempting to force entry into a non-residential building at 5:17 p.m. in the 1400 block of 2nd Street. 

•  Police successfully assisted a citizen with a vehicle unlock at 9:23 p.m. in the 600 block of Wis. 69.

On July 29:

•  Police issued a verbal warning to a bartender for violating the Beer Garden license at 12:28 a.m. Officers on foot patrol in the downtown area found patrons still drinking alcoholic beverages in the beer garden, in violation of the license that states it should be closed by 12:00 a.m. The patrons were told to take their drinks inside.

•  Allison E. Albert, 16, Verona, was cited for speeding at 2:56 p.m. on Elmer Road at Valle Tell Drive.

•  Jasmine L. Usher, 29, Fitchburg, was arrested for theft at 3:20 p.m. Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle suspected to be involved in a retail theft that took place at approximately 3 p.m. in the 200 block of 8th Street in Monroe. Police were able to recover all the stolen merchandise. Usher was transported to the Monroe Police Department where she posted bond and was released pending court.

•  A sexual assault was reported at 9:34 p.m. that occurred in the village. The case is under investigation.


Green County Sheriff

MONROE — On July 25:

•  Joseph D. Ruegsegger, 25, Monroe, was cited for operation after revocation after a traffic stop at 12:11 p.m. in the N6700 block of Wis. 69 in the Town of Washington. Ruegsegger was released pending a court appearance.

•  Taylor R. Tiner, 22, Madison, was cited for operating after revocation while being stopped for speeding at 6:35 p.m. in the N9200 block of Wis. 69 in New Glarus. Tiner was warned for speeding. Tiner was released pending a court appearance. 

•  Shawn M. Hopkins, 27, Monroe, was arrested on a warrant issued through the Green County Sheriff’s Office for failure to pay fine at 7:24 p.m. on Franklin Road near Bethel Road in the Town of Clarno. Hopkins was transported to the Green County Jail and was released after bond was posted.    

On July 26:

•  Ana J. Bonilla Diaz, 31, Beloit, was cited for operating without a valid license (2nd offense within 3 years) during a traffic stop at 3 a.m. in the W1100 block of Wis. 11 in the Town of Spring Grove. Bonilla Diaz was given a warning for speeding. Bonilla Diaz was released pending a court appearance.  

•  Elizabeth A. M. Broshous, 22, Albany, was arrested for disorderly conduct-domestic abuse at 7:35 p.m. in the N3600 block of Wis. 81 in Monroe. Broshous was transported to the Green County Jail where bond was posted and she was released.                  On July 28:

•  Derek J. Holden, 33, Belleville, was arrested for disorderly conduct-domestic abuse at 2:18 a.m. in the 8900 block of Madison Street in the Town of Exeter. Holden was transported to the Green County Jail where bond was posted and he was released.

•  Matthew D. Schupbach, 34, Janesville, was arrested on two counts of disorderly conduct-domestic abuse at 12:40 p.m. in the 1500 block of Jackson Street in Beloit. Deputies responded to a residence in the W100 block of Halfway Tree Road in the Town of Spring Grove for a disturbance, but Schupbach had fled the scene. Schupbach was also arrested on a probation hold through the Wisconsin Department of Corrections and was taken to the Green County Jail pending an initial court appearance.

On July 29:

•  Douglas B. Scace, 47, Browntown, was arrested for misdemeanor bail jumping and a probation hold at 7:41 p.m. in the W8400 block of Wis. 11 in the Town of Cadiz. Scace was jailed.


Monroe Police

MONROE — On July 27:

•  Travis W. Ramsey, 49, Monroe, was arrested for disorderly conduct at 9:19 p.m. in the 500 block of 16th Avenue. Ramsey posted bond and was released pending court.

On July 29:

•  Nicholas C. Powell, 26, Monroe, was arrested for disorderly conduct and damage to property under Wisconsin’s Domestic Violence provisions at 11:51 a.m. in the 1900 block of 9th Street. Powell posted bond and was released pending court.

•  Alexis L. Furino, 26, Brodhead, was arrested for felony retail theft at 2:24 p.m. in the 300 block of 6th Avenue West. Furino was transported to the Green County Jail.


Brodhead Police

BRODHEAD — For the week of July 22 to 28, Brodhead Police reported 49 calls for service, 13 follow ups to incidents, 14 vehicle registrations, 13 citizen assists, 47 security checks, 10 assists with other agencies, 18 traffic stops, nine 911 calls, one fire call and four EMS calls.

On July 22:

• A 38-year-old Brodhead man was cited for disorderly conduct 12:31 a.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue.

On July 23:

• An animal problem was reported at 4:20 p.m. in the 500 block of 1st Center Avenue. A chicken was reported as missing but was later located by its owner.

• A code violation for grass clippings in the roadway was reported at 7:52 p.m. in the 1700 block of 1st Center Avenue. A warning issued.

• A code violation for grass clippings in the roadway was reported at 8:02 p.m. in the 1400 block of 1st Center Avenue. A warning was issued.

• Police issued a warning for a heavy truck route ordinance violation at 8:12 p.m. in the 8000 block of East Exchange Street.

• A code violation for grass clippings in the roadway was reported at 8:32 p.m. in the 400 block of 1st Center Avenue. The matter remains under investigation.

• A 17-year-old Brodhead man was arrested for operating while intoxicated at 10:40 p.m. in the 2000 block of 1st Center Avenue. A 15-year-old passenger in the vehicle was cited for underage possession of tobacco.

On July 24:

• A 37-year-old man was arrested for burglary at 6:20 a.m. in the 900 block of West Exchange Street. The man entered a business without permission and took an undisclosed amount of cash.

On July 25:

• A damaged soda machine outside of a business was reported at 6:24 a.m. in the 1600 block of 1st Center Avenue. The matter remains under investigation.

• Police issued a warning to a subject throwing walnuts into the roadway at 1:46 p.m. in the 100 block of Cedar Avenue.

• A code violation for grass clippings in the roadway was reported at 2:47 p.m. in the 1000 block of 12th Street. A warning was issued.

• A traffic complaint was reported at 5:15 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 3rd Avenue. A pedestrian was almost struck by a vehicle. A warning was issued.

On July 26: 

• Police responded to a domestic problem at 7:16 a.m. in the 500 block of 11th Street. Contact was made and the matter was resolved.

• A 59-year-old Brodhead woman was cited for speeding at 5:08 p.m. in the 700 block of 23rd Street.

• A report of disorderly conduct between subjects in a vehicle appearing to have an altercation was made at 6:39 p.m. in the 1700 block of East 9th Avenue. Police did not locate the vehicle.

July 28:

• A 48-year-old Beloit woman was cited for speeding at 11:08 a.m. in the 600 block of 1st Street.

• A gas drive-off was reported at 12:19 p.m. in the 1100 block of 1st Center Avenue. Contact was made, it was determined to be an oversight and the matter was resolved.

• Police responded to a report at 6:49 p.m. after a subject received a fraudulent phone call in the 1400 block of 16th Street. Contact was made and a warning was issued.

• A 22-year-old Brodhead man was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct, battery, resisting/obstructing an officer, felony intimidation of a victim, disorderly conduct and probation violation at 11:18 p.m. in the 700 block of 21st Street.


Lafayette County Sheriff

DARLINGTON — On July 23:

•  A deputy assisted Iowa County Sheriff’s Office at 2:20 a.m. with a traffic stop on Wis. 151 in Iowa County.

•  A deputy assisted Darlington Police at 3:37 p.m. with a traffic stop on Galena Street in Darlington.

•  A traffic complaint was reported at 11:55 a.m. to Wis. 23 in Willow Springs Township for a traffic complaint.

•  A juvenile problem was reported at 1;16 p.m. on Miner Way in Shullsburg.  

•  Deputies assisted Darlington Police with a traffic stop at 2:07 p.m. on East Street in Darlington.

•  Suspicious activity was reported at 4:17 p.m. on Wood Street in Belmont.  

•  A deputy responded at 4:26 p.m. to Dunbarton Road in Shullsburg Township for a 911 misdial.

•  Disorderly conduct was reported at 4:42 p.m. on West Water Street in Shullsburg.

•  A traffic complaint was reported at 8:10 p.m. on Red Rock Road in Darlington Township. As a result, Cole R. Gollmer, 20, Darlington, was cited for operating after suspension, no insurance on motor vehicle, littering and driver’s license not on person.

•  Lisandro Matos Perez, 37, Freeport, was cited at 9:14 p.m. for failure to stop at a stop sign on County W in White Oak Springs Township.

On July 24:

•  A disabled vehicle was reported at 12:14 p.m. on U.S.  151 in Belmont Township.

•  An injured animal was reported at 6:52 a.m. on County G in Kendall Township.

•  A deputy unlocked a vehicle at 3:44 p.m. on South Penn Street in Belmont.

•  A deputy unlocked a vehicle at 8:10 p.m. on Shawnee Road in New Diggings Township.

•  A noise complaint was reported at 9:29 p.m. on Main Street in Gratiot.

•  Carlos G. Sanchez-Walker, 45, Racine, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign at 11:31 p.m. on County W in White Oak Springs Township.

On July 25:

•  Marcos A. Quiroz, 23, Freeport, Illinois, Bailey M. Reid, 21, Freeport, Illinois, and Aquil J.T. Parker, 24, Freeport, Illinois, were arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop at 1:36 a.m. on County W, New Diggings Township. They were transported and booked at the Lafayette County Jail. Reid was later bonded out and Quiroz and Parker remain in custody. Quiroz was also arrested for possession with intent to deliver and keep open intoxicants in a motor vehicle.

•  Carlos A. Luna-Masegosa, 29, Belmont, was cited for operating without a driver’s license and no insurance at 1:41 a.m. on Wis. 23, Darlington Township.

•  An animal problem was reported at 4:51 a.m. on County G in Belmont Township.

•  Deputies responded at 10:47 a.m. to Wildcat Road, Darlington Township for check welfare.

•  A deputy came across a disabled vehicle at 8:58 p.m. on Wis. 81, Seymour Township.

•  Livestock on the road was reported at 11:50 p.m. on Short Cut Road in Willow Springs Township.

On July 26:

•  An injured deer was reported at 5:42 a.m. on Wis. 78 in Wiota Township.

•  An injured deer was reported at 9:19 a.m. on Wis. 78 in Gratiot Township.

•  A deputy responded at 12:17 p.m. to Wis. 11, Gratiot Township for a check welfare.

•  A deputy responded at 3:04 p.m. to North Van Buren Street in Benton for a check welfare.

•  A deputy responded at 4:26 p.m. to Wis. 11, Gratiot Township for a check welfare.

•  A noise complaint was reported at 5:17 p.m. on Lake Road in Fayette Township.

•  Livestock on the road was reported at 6:18 p.m. on North Lake Road in Blanchard Township.

•  Madison R. Pauly, 16, Darlington, was cited for speeding at 6:40 p.m. on Wis. 23, Gratiot Township.

•  A traffic complaint was reported at 6:41 p.m. on West Mound View Avenue in Belmont.

•  A deputy responded at 7:51 p.m. to County XX, Belmont Township for a 911 misdial.

•  Livestock on the road was reported at 8:08 p.m. on Wis. 81 in Elk Grove Township.

•  Adam J. Turner, 33, Orfordville, was cited for speeding and operating without a valid driver’s license at 8:31 p.m. on Rielly Road, Willow Springs Township.

•  An injured deer was reported at 8:35 p.m. on Wis. 23 in Willow Springs Township.

•  Disorderly conduct was reported at 10:42 p.m. on School Street in Blanchardville.
