MONROE — An intoxicated man was arrested at the Monroe Middle School on the morning of Tuesday, May 16, just as students were entering the school. At 7:49 a.m. officers were called to a report of a suspicious man, allegedly walking barefoot in the roadway near the Monroe Middle School, in the 1500 block of 13th Street.
Authorities said responding officers located the man about a block away, in the 1400 block of 17th Avenue, and found the man to be intoxicated.
An investigation indicated that the man, Steven A. Steiner (30), Browntown, had been yelling at pedestrians — including children — and had walked on to school grounds. He was immediately contacted by the school administration, and escorted off of the grounds while police were called. Nothing more occurred.
Steiner was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and as being an unauthorized person on school grounds. Steiner was also taken into custody on an apprehension request from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections-Probation & Parole, and was confined in the Green County Jail pending further proceedings.
