DARLINGTON — Local police arrested a Colorado woman and charged her with driving under the influence last Tuesday night after she allegedly drove her vehicle onto the Lafayette County Courthouse lawn.
According Darlington Police, officers initially responded to a report of a truck parked on the courthouse lawn just after 6:30 p.m. Police reports say their investigation revealed that the driver of the car jumped the curb, drove across the lawn before stopping near the courthouse’s south entrance.
The driver, 39-year-old Rosalina Carvantez, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated and taken to Lafayette County Jail, where she was booked and later released. It is unclear if the woman had recently moved to Darlington or if she was merely driving through when the incident occurred.
