BELLEVILLE — Belleville Area Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has named Chris Backes as its new EMS Chief. Backes begins his service with Belleville EMS following several years working in various fire and emergency medical services capacities.
Backes is a Wisconsin state licensed paramedic and fire officer, a certified CPR instructor, and maintains a variety of advanced life support certifications. He has over 10 years of experience, first obtaining his Emergency Medical Technician license in the spring of 2013. He graduated from paramedic school in the fall of 2014 and has worked since then at Divine Savior Hospital in Portage, FitchRona EMS, and most recently for Oregon Area Fire/EMS.
“I’m very excited to be starting my new position as EMS Chief with Belleville EMS,” Backes said. “I’m grateful for the trust placed in me to lead this department, and I look forward to meeting everyone, getting a better understanding of how the department operates and how we can better serve the community.”
Backes and his family live in the community and reside in the Town of Exeter.
Belleville Area EMS offers around-the-clock emergency medical care to the Village of Belleville and its surrounding townships, a district with a combined population of more than 6,000 people. The agency operates two ambulances and is staffed 24 hours a day by a highly trained team of experienced emergency medical technicians and paramedics.
