In last week's update I let everybody know that 8th Street would have some overnight closures to allow the contractor to install new storm sewer pipe.
Project staff and the contractor have been happy with the amount of progress that has been made and have decided to continue this overnight schedule for a couple more days. The contractor will be working tonight and Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Work will include the removal of old pavement and existing aggregate base in the stage 2 area from Wisconsin 69 to 1st Avenue.
The contractor has some sanitary sewer lining work coming up in the next week or two which will also be done overnight. The exact dates will be announced once they are scheduled.
These night time closures allow the work to be completed safely and efficiently while minimizing disruption to the many businesses and residents.
All businesses will have access off the side roads during the closures. Please plan accordingly if your business is open during these hours.
- Ken Plowman is a senior engineering technician for Fehr Graham, which the city of Monroe hired to oversee the 8th Street project.
