BRODHEAD — The Brodhead Backpack Food Program’s partners, Southwestern Wisconsin Community Action Program (SWCAP), Second Harvest Food Bank, and the School District of Brodhead would like to thank the Wahlin Foundation for their financial support of the Backpack Program.
As Magic’s quote states, “All kids need is a little help, a little hope, and someone who believes in them,” and the Wahlin Foundation believes in supporting Brodhead’s kids. In a press release, the Brodhead Backpack Food Program said it is proud to have the Wahlin Foundation as its partner in overcoming hunger.
The goal of the Wahlin Foundation, the charitable arm of Stoughton Trailers LLC, is to enrich lives and provide opportunities in local communities.
“On behalf of Stoughton Trailers, our Foundation looks to support charitable groups that support the communities where we have manufacturing plants located, and this includes Brodhead, Stoughton and Evansville,” said Betsy McClimon, Executive Director of the Wahlin Foundation.
Through their ongoing support of the Brodhead Backpack Food Program, they have met this goal.
“Please join us in thanking the Wahlin Foundation for their generous support of the Backpack Program,” the Backpack Program said in the press release.
The Backpack Program began in Sept. 2019 as a partnership between SWCAP, Second Harvest Food Bank in Madison, and the School District of Brodhead. It was formed to address student food insecurity within Brodhead’s students. The program provides weekend foods to Brodhead students at no cost to the School District, taxpayers, family/caretaker or student. The only cost to the program is the cost of food. All labor and administrative costs are provided through donated and volunteer services, and the program is financially supported through donations and grants from foundations like the Wahlin Foundation.
For those who wish to donate to the Brodhead Backpack Food Program, donations can be either sent to the Albrecht Elementary School, 1400 21st Street, Brodhead WI 53520 or to SWCAP, 149 N Iowa Street, Dodgeville, WI, 53533. The public is encouraged to ear-mark a donation for the Brodhead Backpack Food Program.
