MONROE - The Green County St. Patrick's Day Committee has announced its plans for Irish Week 2012.
The second annual Run Before You Crawl at the Green County Family YMCA is Saturday, March 10. The 5K run/walk begins with a kid's run at 8:30 a.m, followed by the Celtic 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. Register at the YMCA.
The fifth annual Celtic Crawl, sponsored by Flanagan's Shenanigans, starts at 1 p.m. on March 10, with check-in from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Friendly Inn. Crawlers are encouraged to bring a food donation at check-in. There are eight pubs that are involved this year, with two bands playing all day at Turner Hall. There is no cover charge if registered. Register at participating pubs, Heartland Graphics or celticcrawl.com.
St. Patrick's Day is Saturday, March 17. The day's events start with leprechaun crafts and stories at the Monroe Public Library from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Turner Hall will be the host for Main Street Monroe's Great Gaelic Gala from noon to 3 p.m. There will be free music from The Sweet Life along with kids games and family activities.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade begins at 3:17 p.m., from the brewery parking lot and goes around the square.
The Monroe Lions Club is also selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a trip to Dublin, Ireland, plus other prizes. Tickets available from club members, Heartland Graphics and Old Smokey's.
