MONROE - St. John's United Church of Christ will be hosting its annual Ash Wednesday Baked Potato Supper from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 5 at the church, 1724 14th St.

The annual event is a fundraiser for the church's youth group as they work toward a youth mission trip in June. The event is open to the public

Tickets are $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 4 through 10 and children age 3 and under eat free. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the church or will be available at the door. Carry-outs and drive-through service will be available.

The meal includes the potato with toppings including melted butter, sour cream, melted and shredded cheese, steamed broccoli and bacon. The children's meal is half a potato with choice of toppings. For those who are 3 and under and don't like potatoes, hot dogs will be available. All meals also include fruit salad and dessert. For those choosing to dine in-house, beverages will also be served.

An Ash Wednesday service will be held in the church sanctuary at 7 p.m.

Nine high school students and three adult leaders will be traveling to Benton Harbor, Mich., in June for a week-long service trip, sponsored by Youthworks. During that time, they will split their time between rehabilitating local homes with small construction projects and painting and then serve with a local kid's club summer Bible study.
