Spring Thaw Dinner, auction to be held Saturday in Lena

LENA - The Friends of the Pecatonica River Foundation will be holding the fourth annual Spring Thaw Dinner and silent auction at 5 p.m. Saturday at The Rafter's Restaurant, 9426 W. Wagner Road, Lena.

A social hour will begin at 5 p.m., with dinner to follow at 6 p.m. For $20 per person, attendees will enjoy a meal while helping the Pecatonica River. For more information, contact Roger Schamberger at 815-238-7888 or rscham@hotmail.com.

The next meeting of the FPRF will be at 7 p.m. March 17 at The Rafter's Restaurant in the cafe dining room, with foundation president Joe Ginger presiding. Agenda items include: Future landings, Eagle Scout garbage enclosure construction and tree work at McConnell's "Bobtown" Landing. The second edition of the Pecatonica River post card book, a collector book by Joe Ginger, will be available at the meeting for $12.

The FPRF is an Illinois nonprofit organization dedicated to improving all 58 miles of the Pecatonica River. This includes access, education, wildlife habitat, log jam extrication and river clean-up in Stephenson County.

Everyone is welcome at the dinner and meeting.
