MONTICELLO - Green County will have another way to celebrate spring this year in Monticello as various community groups, artisans, car and tractor buffs and outdoor sports enthusiasts come together for Monticello's inaugural "Spring Fling" 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., May 21 to 23.
The event will kick off May 21, with softball and mud volley ball tournaments (a local pastime) in Community Park with 16 teams in each sport competing for the gold. There will be a car and tractor show along with an arts and crafts fair, art glass demonstrations by Mike Myers Designs, live music and great food including, a pig-roast Saturday (sponsored by the Monticello Fire Department), brats and other goodies from Goose Chaser Farm, a beer tent sponsored by the Monticello Community Club, food stands and more. There will be a kid's fun area and other surprises as well.
Proceeds from this event will go to the Monticello Empty Stocking Fund, Monticello Parks Project and the Monticello Community Club.
