MONROE - Green County Cheese Days has extended the deadline for certain specific types of entries into The Swiss Colony Cheese Days Parade.
Entries still being accepted until Aug. 8 include those featuring music or other types of entertainment, and those themed to honor the Monroe Sesquicentennial. Other types of entries are no longer being accepted.
Unique to this year's parade is the special sesquicentennial division in honor of the 150th birthday of the city of Monroe. Groups, organizations, or individuals are invited to create an entry for this division, with the best sesquicentennial-themed float or unit to be awarded a cash prize of $150. Use of the sesquicentennial logo is recommended, but not required.
Guidelines for parade participation can be found online by clicking on the Parade page at www.cheesedays.com. Contact the Cheese Days office at 325-7771 with questions.
