BELOIT - Jeannette Bradley, former Ohio Lieutenant Governor, will lead the new Girl Scouts of Wisconsin Badgerland Council beginning June 1. Bradley is currently familiarizing herself with the four councils realigning into Badgerland Council. The councils are:

• Badger Council, serving girls in Rock, Green and Walworth counties in Wisconsin and northern Winnebago County in Illinois;

• Black Hawk Council, serving girls in Green, Dodge, Richland, Sauk, Columbia, Dane, Jefferson, Iowa and Lafayette counties in Wisconsin;

• Riverland Council, serving girls in Buffalo, Trempealeau, Jackson, La Crosse, Monroe, Vernon, Crawford and Juneau counties in Wisconsin and Grant and Allamakee counties in Iowa; and

• A portion of Green Hills Council, serving girls in Grant and Lafayette counties in Wisconsin.

In Wisconsin, 17 separate Girl Scout councils are expected to realign or merge into three councils. Badgerland Council, headquartered in Dane County, will serve southwestern and south central Wisconsin effective June 1. Girl Scouts of the USA initiated the national realignment process in 2006. About 80 percent of councils nationwide have already been restructured. By the end of 2009, the total number of councils will reduce from 312 to 109.
