CEDARVILLE - Pastor Lyle Babcock worked with a group of people from the Cedarville and McConnell area in April 1962 to reopen the former Richland Methodist Church as Richland Free Methodist church. Babcock has pastored there every since.

The North Central Conference is giving Babcock, now 82, retirement and appointing JoAnn Krulatz, a midlife new appointee as of June 7, as the pastor of Richland Free Methodist Church.

Babcock and the people of the Richland Free Methodist Church will be holding a worship service at 10:15 a.m. Sunday, May 4 at the church. A fellowship potluck will be held at 12:20 p.m. at Cedarville Community Center to greet Babcock and Krulatz, who has interned at the church this past conference year.
