Project Linus seeks blankets

JANESVILLE - For nine years, the Janesville/Rock Valley Chapter of Project Linus has delivered new, handmade blankets to over 6,000 children in the Rock, Green, Jefferson, and Walworth county areas to provide comfort, warmth and security in times of distress through 28 facilities and organizations.

This winter has seen a dramatic increase in blanket demand and Project LInus is now asking for the help of blanket-makers throughout the area.

If you can sew, quilt, knit, or crochet a new blanket for a child, birth -18 years, in need or donate the materials for a "blanketeer," Project Linus would welcome the donation of your time and skills.

Volunteer blanket-makers may purchase their own materials or they are invited to inquire about available donated materials, yarns, and quilt batting.

"Blanketeers" can work at their own pace at their own location and donate their completed blankets at any one of the 4 area donation sites: Walmart Supercenter Pharmacy, 2785 Milwaukee Rd., Beloit; 23 S. Atwood Ave., Janesville; Tea & Textiles, 107 S. Main, Jefferson; or Fort Sew 'n Vac, 1109 Whitewater Ave., Fort Atkinson.
