MONROE - The Green County Piano Teachers presented a check to each of the five Green County libraries as well as the Monroe Arts Center.
The money was raised through pledges by Green County piano students for performing at the piano play-a-thon in December. There were 135 students who performed to shoppers at the Monroe Shopko. Through the play-a-thon, $2,468 was raised and donated to the five libraries, to MAC and a portion of the fund will go towards the 2014 ensemble recital.
Each library will use donations to promote music and purchase music-related items. The Monroe Arts Center donation will be used to help support the Sunday afternoon entertainment series and will go toward the Legacy Campaign fund.
In addition to these donations, a portion of the funds will be used to support the 2014 ensemble recital that will be performed by Green County piano students in November.
Green County piano teachers participating in the event include: Rita Farris, Monroe; Ann Herr, Brodhead; Carolyn Hilliard, Monticello; Dawn Jordan, Monticello; Gwen Shaker, Monroe; and Julie Zimmerman, Juda.
