When the Darlington Area Veterans Memorial was built, a stand to put the list of Veterans names and their locations on the Memorial was not included. A box with the list of Veterans names was built later and it was placed on a tree close to the Memorial. Over the years the box deteriorated and so did the list of names in the box. This year it was decided to build a permanent stand and place it close to the Veterans Memorial. Darlington Dairy Supply (DDS) was approached to build a stainless-steel stand that would withstand the Wisconsin weather conditions. Oscar Thuli (Sons of the American Legion) member who works at DDS when he is not in school offered to build the stand. Oscar built the stand and put in place this past week. A new book with a new list of Veterans and their location on the Memorial will be added in the near future. Pictured are American Legion Post 214 member Dan O’Brien (left) and Oscar Thuli (right).
