NEW GLARUS - A program called "Bats Live! - Nature's Nighttime Superheroes" will be presented by Jennifer Redell, a bat biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the New Glarus Woods State Park picnic shelter on County NN.

Redell will unearth the mysteries of Wisconsin's bats, explain why they are superheroes and share what the state DNR Bat Program is doing in response to a devastating disease known as white-nose syndrome. Redell will be accompanied by live bats.

This is the first in a series of naturalist programs that will be presented Saturday nights at the New Glarus Woods State Park during 2016. The schedule of events is available online at www.newglaruswoods.org.

The event is free. Parking is available in the park with either a daily or annual Wisconsin state park sticker, which can be purchased at http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/parks/admission.html.

The event is hosted by the Friends of the New Glarus Woods State Park, a nonprofit volunteer organization dedicated to promoting a greater appreciation and sense of ownership for the New Glarus Woods. For more information or if interested in becoming a member, contact Beth Blahut or Betsy Meter Brooks at info@newglaruswoods.org.
