MONTICELLO - The Monticello Community Club's annual celebration, Monticello Homecoming, will be July 7-10, starting with softball tournaments at 7 p.m. July 7. Call 608-426-4955 to register or for information.
July 8
The carnival begins with its only wristband special of the weekend from 6 to 10 p.m.. At 7 p.m., the Homecoming Variety Show will showcase local talent at Barnaby's Monticello House. The main beer stand will have free, live music from 8 p.m. to midnight.
A variety of food will be provided by local organizations and donated by community members. A traditional fish boil will be sold beginning at 5 p.m. at the Octagon Shelter. Prices are $10 in advance for an adult dinner or $11 at the door and $5 for a child's portion.
July 9
Many sports, games, music, and other activities are scheduled. Sign up in advance by contacting Kevin Johnson at 608-558-9189 for mud volleyball, Braden Rindy at 608-214-4808 for grass volleyball and Jacob Marty at 608-558-5493 for basketball.
Motorcyclists may register at 9:30 a.m. for the Monticello Homecoming Ride at the Rathskeller. The ride leaves at 11 a.m. There are prizes and the proceeds go to the Empty Stocking Fund.
Registration for the free kids' pedal tractor pull for ages 3 through 10 is at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Monticello Pool House. There are four age classes, free T-shirts and trophies.
Monticello PTO is holding a Pony Trot 5K Run/Walk and Little Pony 1K, starting and ending at Monticello Schools. The kids run is at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K is at 9 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. Register by Sunday to guarantee a T-shirt. Registration forms are at: http://www.monticello.k12. wi.us/PTO/ponytrot.pdf. The PTO also is having Plinko, ball toss and face painting from 3 to 8 p.m. for $1 each.
Registration for canoe races around Lake Montesian is at 1:30 p.m., with races at 2 p.m. Teams will be based on age. There is no fee.
Zwingli Brotherhood will sponsor a presentation titled "Schuetzenvereins (Shooting Societies) of Green County" by Christopher Pederson of Eau Claire at 6 p.m. at Zwingli UCC. For more information, contact Paul Rieder at 608-558-8192.
Community firefighter water fights are at 1 p.m., and from 2 to 5 p.m. at the main beer tent, the Greenfield Brothers will be entertaining. Other live music will be at the beer stand with a break at about 9:45 for fireworks, which are set off at Lake Montesian.

Beginning at 11 a.m. at the Octagon Shelter is a chicken barbecue: Half chicken dinners are $10 or just chicken is $7. Carryouts are available, and delivery for senior citizens, handicapped persons within the village limits can be arranged by contacting Katy at 938-4339 before 7 p.m. July 9.
The parade, with a theme of "We're a Page Right out of History," will begin at 2 p.m. The parade marshal this year is Ruth Sybers. Entries and monetary donations are still being accepted. Contact Kay Freitag at 608-938-1133.
The bean bag competition is at 3 p.m. at the baseball beer tent. The cost is $10 per co-ed two-person team. Registration is that day. Call Andrew Anderson at 608-279-1430 for info.
