MONROE - Green County Emergency Management announces that April 21-25 is Severe Weather Awareness Week and the statewide tornado drill will be Thursday, April 24.
The simulated statewide Tornado Watch will be issued at 1 p.m. followed by a simulated Tornado Warning for southwestern Wisconsin 1:20-1:25 p.m. The drill will conclude at 2 p.m. Families, schools and businesses are encouraged to review their disaster plans and actively participate in this drill. If there is inclement weather the drill will be conducted on Friday, April 25.
Lafayette County Emergency Management will participate in the drill. In the city of Darlington, the Tornado Warning Siren will be activated at 1:25 p.m. If actual severe weather occurs anywhere in the state on April 24, the tornado drill will be postponed until Friday, April 25, with the watch/warnings issued at the same times.
A tornado watch means that weather indicates that a tornado may be possible and watch for changing weather conditions.
