MONROE - What was it like to grow up in a small Swiss village during the 1940s and '50s? The Swiss Heritage Series of the Turner Hall of Monroe will be hosting Swiss native and author, Ruth Schoch, as she reads from her published memoir, "On the Other Side of the Ocean," at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, in the Grand Hall of Turner Hall.
In English, and originally written as a personal memoir for her grandchilden, Schoch, through her book, describes the day-to-day life of one close-knit, multi-generational family in Switzerland, sharing the same house.
Raised in Dornach, Switzerland, Schoch has lived in the United States for 40 years and resides in St. Paul, Minn.
The public is invited to attend the book reading. A free-will donation of $5 is suggested. Copies of "On the Other Side of the Ocean" will be available for sale and signing at the reading.
