MONROE - Monroe Theatre Guild announces the cast for its summer production, "Fiddler on the Roof," directed by Susan Nanning Sorenson.
The cast includes more than 60 people of all ages in the moving story of Tevye, a poor dairyman who tries to instill in his five daughters the precariously balanced ways of traditional life of his tight-knit Jewish community in an ever-changing, turbulent world of Czarist Russia.
Tevye is played by Jim Hurlbert and his wife, Golde, is portrayed by Tracy Bristow. Laura Jacobson will be playing the role of the eldest daughter, Tzeitel; Adair Smith is the daughter, Hodel; and Tashona Brown is Chava. The youngest daughters, Shprintze and Bielke, will be played by Katie Miller and Emma Sorenson. Other leads include David Sorenson as Motel the tailor, Sam Schumacher as Perchik the student and Peter Kelly is Fyedka the Russian soldier. Gloria Hendrickson will play the part of Yente the matchmaker, John Baumann is Lazar Wolf the butcher, Nadine Whiteman is the ghostly Fruma-Sarah and Joe Peters is the Russian Constable. The cast also includes soldiers Jon LeGault, Vincent Peterson, Alex Purdy and Nat Soderberg, and Dave Soderberg as the Rabbi. The Fiddler will be played by Patti James. Appearing as Villagers are Sean LeGault, Keenan Minogue, John Peterson, Ricky DeNure, Suzanne Miller, Gwen Shaker, Juli Johnson, Eric Boyd, Christopher Beausire, Jocelyn Beausire, Callie Bristow, Katie Doyle, KC Friske, Patty Linden, Emilee Miller, Ben Minogue, Anika Nelson, Rikka Nelson, Chelsea Norquay, Olivia O'Dea, Jane Olson, Lushana Peterson, Matthew Sorenson, Amy Whiteman and Brittany Wilcox. The Chorus includes Abigail Carus, Haylen Finch, Linda Gissing, Emma Guenther, Elizabeth Hakes, Bridget Kelly, Jaena LeGault, Allison Leutenegger, Rachel Love, Molly Marass, Madeline McGrane, Cassie Shaker, Jessica Shaker, Lizzie Siedschlag, Corinne Wartenweiler, Vincent Wartenweiler, and Connor White.
Performances are 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 1 and 2; 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3; 7:30 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 7, 8 and 9; and 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10.
