MONROE — The Monroe Arts Center invites the public to laugh along as the art of improvisation comes alive at the MAC Comedy club at 7:03 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10 in the Rudd Hall.
Grab Bag is a troupe of improvisers who come from various backgrounds. All five actors are alumni from Chicago’s Second City and IO Theatre. In addition to their experience in the Chicago area, some have also had the privilege of performing on cruise lines and military bases across the globe.
Before these actors take the stage on Saturday night, they will be holding an Improv Workshop for grades 6-12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This class will be taught by actor Jackie Wiles and Ashley Whitehurst. The Improv Workshop will explore improvisation techniques and games in a supportive environment. The goal of the class is to encourage students to be spontaneous and creative, while enhancing listening and reacting skills. Students will work collaboratively with other students and teachers to explore the concepts and skills of improv in order to create a foundation to become the next great improv star. No prior experience is required.
Join the Monroe Arts Center on Saturday, Sept. 10 for a fun filled day of improv. The MAC Comedy Club Improv show is a ticketed event. Register for the class and/or purchase tickets for the show by visiting monroeartscenter.com or call 608.325.5700. Students and adults are eligible for scholarship funds to cover the cost of tuition.
