Local grad earns Navy promotion

Rebecca Bahn Promoted
MONROE - Rebecca Bahn Foster has advanced to First Class Petty Officer in the United States Navy and is currently stationed at US Naval Hospital in Naples, Italy.

Her career began in 2000 when she attended basic training in Great Lakes, Ill., and completed her Hospital Corpsman "A" school training. From there her duties include National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland; USNS Comfort Hospital Ship, Baltic Challenge (Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia); Naval School of Health and Science, Portsmouth, Virginia; Naval Hospital, Pensacola, Florida. Foster was the first junior enlisted to receive the Joint Service Commendation Medal while deployed to Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, in support of the war on terrorism.

Her overall achievements include Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Comm-endation Medal, Unit Commendation Medal, global war on terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Medal, Good Conducts, Letters of Appreciation and Letters of Commendation.

Her schooling includes certification in neonatal resuscitation, emergency medical technician, American Society of Clinical Pathology, Advanced Medical Laboratory technician (graduating magna cum laude), and associates degree in applied science with a major in medical laboratory (graduating magna cum laude).

Foster, a 2000 graduate of Monroe High School, is a member of the Monroe VFW, American Legion, International 4-H, and Mt. Olive Church.

She is the daughter of George and Barbara Bahn of Monroe.
