JUDA - Several members of the Juda FFA Chapter attended and received awards at the 80th Wisconsin FFA Convention held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison from June 9-11.
Two members received awards for gold rated proficiency awards. Jeff Rackow received a second place gold in the Ag Processing Proficiency area and also a fifth place gold in Sheep Production Proficiency. Kevin Becker received a fifth place gold in the Diversified Horticulture Proficiency area. Three members of the Juda FFA received their State FFA Degree on Wednesday of the convention. This is the highest degree that a member can earn at the State level. Kevin Becker, Katie Bundy, and Tyrone Zimmerman each received their State FFA degree during the Fifth General Session of the convention.
The chapter also received two awards for membership. Juda FFA placed second for having the largest percentage of school population in FFA. Largest percentage of FFA membership compared to the school population is calculated by defining the school population as the number of students that have the ability to join FFA in seventh through 12th grade. Juda's membership consists of 55 percent of the school population that is involved in FFA. They also were one of 16 schools that were recognized as having 100 percent of their Agriculture Education students as members of the FFA.
Other students that participated in the Convention from Juda were Megan Trotter and Cassie Mann. Trotter was selected as a member of the State Honors Choir, which performed several times during the Convention. She was chosen for a soprano part in the Chorus. She will also be performing with the State FFA Honors Choir at the Wisconsin State Fair from August 13-16. Cassie Mann and Kevin Becker served as Juda's official voting delegates.
