FREEPORT — As we head into St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists that they will be out in full force to keep the roads safe. The campaign runs March 11-18.
“This St. Patrick’s Day, designate a sober driver,” said Stephenson County Sheriff David Snyders. “If you’ll be drinking alcohol, planning ahead is the best way to ensure you and your friends make it home safely.”
In addition to looking for alcohol impaired drivers, the Stephenson County Sheriff’s Office will be stepping up seatbelt enforcement, particularly at night when seatbelt usage rates are lowest. Speeding, distracted driving and other traffic laws will also be strictly enforced.
