MADISON — The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) released the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey data for the month of Oct. It shows the state holding its own in the labor market
According to a statement, the JOLTS data for Wisconsin showed:
● Hires were unchanged over the month at 120,000.
● Job openings decreased month-over-month to 210,000. Openings in Illinois decreased as well.
● Quits declined over the month to 82,000. Quits also declined in the United States, Illinois and Iowa.
The state JOLTS release follows the recent release of state Current Employment Statistics (CES) and Local Area Unemployment Statistics (LAUS) for the month of Nov. which showed that Wisconsin’s unemployment rate of 3.0% ranked 10th lowest nationally; and Wisconsin’s labor force participation rate of 66.4% ranked ninth best nationally.
