BLS data: Wis. 

unemployment rate remains at 3.9%

MADISON — The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) released the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) preliminary employment estimates for the month of August. 

The data shows that Wisconsin’s unemployment rate remained at 3.9% while the state’s Labor Force Participation Rate increased to 66.5%, up from 66.4% in July 

Wisconsin lost 8,200 private-sector and 10,400 total non-farm jobs in August.


Summer housing market constrained by tight inventories

MADISON — August home sales fell 6.3% compared to their levels in Aug. 2020, whereas the median price rose 6.4% to $250,000 over that same 12-month period. For the second straight month, sales fell in every region of the state.

Year to date, statewide sales are ahead of the pace recorded in 2020. Green County median price increased by 26.5% to $258,000 with sales also increasing by 8.3%. Lafayette County sales decreased by 28.6% with median price also decreasing by 9.1% to $159,900.


Volunteer drivers needed for ADRC

GREEN COUNTY — The Aging & Disability Resource Center (ADRC)-Green County Office is looking for volunteer drivers to transport passengers to their appointments, grocery shopping and more. 

Volunteers must have a valid driver’s licenses, good driving record and pass a background check. Volunteers use their own vehicles and are reimbursed the IRS reimbursement rate. This opportunity allows for the volunteer to pick their schedule and stay as busy as they would like.

Woodford blood drive Oct. 4

WOODFORD — The Woodford Fire Department will be hosting a community blood drive on Monday, October 4, from 3:30-6:30 p.m.  

The blood drive will be held in the garage bays located at 10710 Main Street in Woodford. Appointments and masks are required.  

To donate, please call ImpactLife at 1-800-747-5401 or visit www.bloodcenter.org and search the drive with group code 1420. All donors will receive a voucher to redeem a t-shirt or gift card. ImpactLife is the exclusive provider of blood products to over 120 hospitals in Wis. Iowa, Ill. and Missouri. It is suggested to eat and drink before donating and bring a photo ID.
