Green County Gun Show upcoming

MONROE — On May 12-13, Green County Conservation League will have a gun show at the SLICE Arena 1632 4th Ave. West, Monroe. The hours are Friday 3-8 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $6, though children under 12 will get in at no charge when accompanied by an adult. 

Proceeds will be going for the preservation of Green County wildlife habitat, scholarship programs, the 4-H and the Boy Scouts shooting programs, the Pearl Island recreation corridor in Brodhead, youth hunting programs, hunter safety classes and many other outdoor projects too numerous to mention. No pets will be allowed at this event. 

Albany Alumni Banquet May 27

ALBANY — This year’s Albany Alumni banquet will be held on Memorial weekend, Saturday, May 27, at the Albany Lions Club 402 N Cincinnati St. 

Social gathering starts at 6 p.m. and dinner is served at 7 p.m. The $18 roast beef dinner is served fami-ly style and reservation deadline is May 20.

Who are the Amish?

ARGYLE — Professor Mark Louden will be the presented speaker at 6 p.m. on April 25 at the Argyle Public Library.

The Argyle Public Library is located at 401 E. Milwaukee Street, Argyle. Note, this location has stairs. 

Professor Louden begins by presenting an overview contrasting widely held myths with facts about the Amish and closely related religious groups such as the Mennonites, of which he is a practicing member. He will cover history, tenets of faith of the various branches, life style customs, and much more. After the presentation, Dr. Louden welcomes the chance to talk with the audience and answer their questions.
