Deadline for T-shirt contest is May 4

MONROE - The Sexual Assault Recovery Program is holding a T-shirt design contest. The deadline to submit a design is 4 p.m. May 4.

The two age brackets for contestants are ages 4 to 10 and 11 to 18. The topics are either Respect or Healthy Relationships. No profanity is allowed and designs need to be school-appropriate.

Locations for the rules and blank paper are: Brodhead Middle School, the Monroe Times, the teen services area at Monroe Public Library, New Glarus Public Library, Juda School or the SARP office, 2809 6th St.

Submissions need to include name, age and contact information. There will be one winner from each category and each will receive a free T-shirt of that design. Heartland Graphics is donating some shirts and also selling T-shirts to the public.

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. SARP is looking for volunteers, especially those who are interested in helping plan community events. Monetary donations monetary and supplies such as journals, crayons, notebooks, pencils and printer paper are appreciated.



Garden club to hear about beekeeping

MONROE - The Monroe Garden Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. April 25 at the Behring Senior Center. Pat Holmstrom will speak on bees and honey.

Members will have a plant exchange. This meeting is open to the public.
