Janesville: Grammy winner to perform at UW-Rock

JANESVILLE - Two-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Bill Miller will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Kirk Denmark Theatre on the University of Wisconsin-Rock County campus at 2909 Kellogg Ave., Janesville.

Miller is a seven-time Native American Music Award winner who has written songs with such artists as Nancy Griffith, Peter Rowan and Kim Carnes, and toured with such national recording artists as Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, the BoDeans, Richie Havens, Arlo Guthrie and Tori Amos.

Miller's 2004 album that blended Native American, western folk and blues traditions entitled "Cedar Dream Songs" earned him a Grammy Award for Best Native American Recording. Other albums in his long recording career include "Loon, Mountain and Moon," "The Red Road," "Reservation Road Live," "Raven in the Snow," "Ghostdance," "The Art of Survival" and "Spirit Rain." He currently lives in Nashville and is working with John Carter Cash on his next recording.
