Holstein group wins awards

WISCONSIN DELLS - Members of the Green County Junior Holstein Association attended the Wisconsin Holstein Convention, hosted by Fond du Lac County, Jan. 3-5.

Junior members participated events including dairy bowl, dairy jeopardy and photography. Members who attended were Morgan Behnke, Joel Dieckhoff, Rachel McCullough, Jesse Mabin, Marissa Vosberg, Brianna Crull, Bryce Zettle, Emily Makos, Lucas Wymer, Breinne Hendrickson, Haylee Reeson, Tess Zettle, Kelsey Cramer, Sara Harn, Alyssa Cramer, Taylor Behnke, Dylan Steiner, Clayton Mahlkuch, Colby Steiner, Brian McCullough, Aaron Makos and Cole Mahlkuch.

Breinne Hendrickson, Belleville, received the top honor of being selected as the 2014 Wisconsin Holstein Girl. Hendrickson, along with Tess Zettle, Juda, graduated from WHA and received a pin.

Brian McCullough, Juda, received the 12-and-under award and will compete at the national level in dairy jeopardy after receiving first place; Rachel McCullough, Juda, received the Younger Member Recognition award; Colby Steiner, Juda, received third place for folding display; Emily Makos, Juda, received second place for folding display and first place for photography; and Kelsey Cramer, Juda, received third place for the speaking contest.

The club also won first place and People's Choice for its county scrapbook, completed by the Klossner family, New Glarus. The Klossner family was also awarded the Friends of the JAC's award.

Olivia Klossner, New Glarus; Grant McCullough, Juda; and Aaron Makos, Juda, won items from the State Raffle Drawing.
