BRODHEAD - The Brodhead Historical Society received two grants to assist with the cost of re-roofing the former Milwaukee Road depot, 1108 1st Center Ave., which now serves as the group's museum.

The project is expected to cost $17,000 and will take place over the summer.

Norman and Carol Aulabaugh, Orfordville, donated $7,500 from their self-directed charitable fund at the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin, and the Wahlin Foundation, Stoughton, donated $1,000 on behalf of Stoughton Trailers, LLC.

Also this summer, the society plans to paint the depot to complete the building's exterior renovation.

The museum is open to the public from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays from May through September, or by appointment for group tours. Admission is free.
