MONROE — The February meeting of the Green County Genealogical Society will feature Immigration Adventures with Ma & Pa, a hands-on Wisconsin history based learning program.
This program demonstrates the difficulties of early immigrant ancestors as they traveled across the ocean from Europe in the 1800s. What would you pack if you were coming to Wisconsin from a different country? The many questions surrounding the hardships of travel and resettlement are covered along with the joys of discovery.
The audience will help unpack trunks which were brought. This is a family program open to all ages. Tom Kleist, a former elementary school teacher and auctioneer, and Sandy Fisher, former accredited education coordinator who worked at Old World Wisconsin prior to retirement, mix humor and history in their programs.
The meeting will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 in the second floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library at 925 16th Ave. Light refreshments are available 15 minutes before the meeting. The program follows a short business meeting. The meeting is free and open to the public. Call Sharon Mitchell at 815-868-2416 or Donna Kjendlie at 608-921-1537 with questions.
