MONROE — Gary Grossen, UW-Madison Babcock Hall Dairy, Madison, was named the Grand Champion at the Green County Fair Cheese Contest this year with his Dutchkase with a score of 99.60.
The judges were Matt Zimbric, Sandy Toney, Gina Mode and Randy Swenson.
The cheese auction of the first through third place entries took place on July 21 in the hospitality tent at the Green County Fairgrounds. All auction proceeds go to charitable causes chosen by the Foreign Type Cheesemaker’s Association Board of Directors. Anyone can bid on the cheese; you just need to register with the auctioneer in the tent the day of the auction.
