FREEPORT — Join Northwest Illinois Audubon Society to visit Gremel Wildlife Sanctuary in Amboy, Illinois on Sept. 8.  At the sanctuary, participants will likely see warblers migrating through the area and dragonflies.  The visit will be led by John and Cindy McKee, lifelong natural history enthusiasts.

Gremel Wildlife Sanctuary, purchased by Illinois Audubon Society in 2016, expands critical habitat that used to be part of the100,000-acre complex of wetlands in Lee County called Inlet and Winnebago Swamps.  

All are welcome to attend this field trip.  Bring binoculars and your own lunch.  Participants will meet at 771 Green Wing Road, Forreston at 9:15 a.m. and return about 2:30 p.m.  

To carpool, be at Forreston Municipal Parking Lot on Route 26 at 8 a.m.
