Generosity Day a success
The annual Generosity Day was held July 28 on the Monroe Square with more than 40 booths set up to welcome community involvement
Generosity Day 1
Thrivent Financial, in partnership with Main Street Monroe, hosted the second annual Generosity Day with over 40 booths on the downtown Square July 28. Jacob’s SWAG filled more than 800 “Farmer Appreciation” bags for farmers in the community and 500 food bags were packed for Backpack Buddies.

MONROE — The annual Generosity Day was held July 28 on the Monroe Square and was hosted by Thrivent Financial in partnership with Main Street Monroe, Inc. More than 40 booths with various activities participated in the event that welcomed community involvement.

Generosity Day 2
Sam Ellefson, Kurt Ellefson, Dustin Williams of the Green County Farm Bureau, Teri Ellefson, Ben Huber of the Green County Farm Bureau, Karen Mau and Joe Monroe helped pack 800 “Farmer Appreciation” bags during Generosity Day. The Ellefsons, Mau and Monroe are members of the Jacob’s SWAG Foundation Board.

Some booths present were: Jacob’s SWAG, filling more than 800 “Farmer Appreciation” bags that will be given to farmers throughout our community.  More than 500 food bags were packed for Backpack Buddies to help children receive food to take home throughout the school year. Other participating organizations included the Green County EMS, Monroe Youth Center and several area churches. A “kids zone” included a bounce house, climbing wall and Dotty the Clown.  

Generosity Day 3

The “punch card” system allowed people to participate in as few as 20 booths to earn a voucher that allowed them to get food at the Monroe farmer’s market, Garden Deli or Franks Franks.  Children earned snow cones, popcorn, cotton candy or a candy bag from Knights of Columbus and Rainbow Confections.  This event is sponsored by Thrivent Financial and was a compilation of Action Teams, which is seed money used to bring a team of people together to educate, fundraise or serve. Local Christian artists Vigilant Soul performed throughout the morning.
