MONROE — Green County Genealogical Society members will present “The Estate” skit during their monthly meeting at 10 a.m. Aug. 4 in the second-floor meeting room of the Monroe Public Library, 925 16th Ave.
Members will represent relatives sorting the belongings of a recently deceased person. The audience will learn what papers are helpful to discover family history and examples of important papers to keep will be available for viewing.
Light refreshments are available 15 minutes before the meeting.

The GCGS Research Center, in the lower level of the Monroe Public Library, is available to the public for research from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and the third Saturday and from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Saturday after the meeting. Summer hours from June through September are 1 to 4 p.m. every Friday.
Main holdings are on Green County but both Rock and Lafayette counties are well represented as well as several other counties, states, countries and ethnic groups. A large clipping collection of births, marriages and obituaries is available. Volunteers are on staff to help with research.
